SOLD....This oil painting is based on my knowledge of this area (I live here and have researched it during my work as an architectural historian) as it would have appeared in the late 1870s. There were two shipyards, one on each side of Dennis Creek, and both are shown here with two ships under construction. At this time, a covered bridge sheltered the roadway over Dennis Creek. The overall dimensions are 17 7/8" by 7 9/16" on an antique pine raised panel. The image measures 14 1/8" by 3 5/8".
At this time, Dennisville was known as North Dennis and South Dennis was known as South Dennisville.
